1. International Community Achievement Awards
Awards of $5,000 each are available to continuing international undergraduate students who have demonstrated leadership in community service, international engagement, intercultural understanding, promotion of diversity, or intellectual, artistic, or athletic pursuits.
Eligibility requirements
You must meet all the following requirements to apply:
- You must be a continuing international student on UBC’s Vancouver campus.
- You must study on a Canadian study permit and pay international undergraduate tuition and fees.
- You must be registered for the current Winter Session.
- You must have been registered for the previous Winter Session.

2. International Major Entrance Scholarship
This type of award is awarded to exceptional international students entering undergraduate programs at UBC. You will be considered for this scholarship shortly after receiving an admission offer to UBC. Scholarship decisions are made between mid-March to the end of April each year.
Students receive their IMES when they enter their first year at UBC, and the scholarships are renewable for up to three additional years of study. The number and level of these scholarships awarded each year vary, depending on available funding.
Eligibility
To be considered for the IMES, you must:
- Be new to UBC, entering directly from secondary school.
- Be an international student studying at UBC on a Canadian study permit (student visa). (Changes to your citizenship status will affect your IMES eligibility.)
- Demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, intellectual promise, and impressive extracurricular and community involvement.
- Not being nominated for a need-and-merit-based International Scholars award.
3. Outstanding International Student Award
The Outstanding International Student (OIS) Award is a one-time, merit-based entrance scholarship awarded to qualified students when they are offered admission to UBC.
You will be considered for this scholarship shortly after receiving an admission offer to UBC. Scholarship decisions are made between mid-March to the end of April each year.
Students selected for this award show academic strength and involvement outside the classroom.

To be considered for an OIS Award, you must:
- Be new to UBC and enter secondary school or post-secondary (university or college).
